Idaho Gives 2020
We’re only halfway through and this year’s Idaho Gives is our most successful ever! Huge thanks to everyone who helped make this happen. After meeting our $10,000 match goal earlier this week, we decided to continue the momentum and raised the goal to $15,000. And we’re almost there! We can do this! Throughout our nearly 30 year history, we have maintained our belief in the power of literacy to transform lives. Not even a pandemic can change that. Though we are unable to meet in-person with students right now, our educators are doing their absolute best to ensure our students remain engaged. Lessons are being delivered in a variety of ways – through Zoom, Facebook, video chats, phone calls, email and good old fashioned mail – depending on what’s most accessible for our students. Our classrooms may have changed these past months, but our commitment to our students has not. So cheers to our educators, our students and our tutors who continue working together in new and creative ways so that education continues regardless of classroom!
Our Family Literacy team is continuing to find ways to stay connected and offer support to our families during this time. We have been sending out texts each week to check in and provide the parents with fun educational things to do at home together. In addition, we have been sending letters to our youngest students in the mail! Our hope is that they will know that, even though we are not together in school right now, they are always in our thoughts.
Virtual Tutor Trainings
Educators have been hosting virtual tutor trainings and we are once again impressed by the dedication of our volunteers. Whether in person or online, our volunteers show up!
